At about 2:30-3am last night, I booked about 7 appointments, for a shellac mani & pedi, facial, hair blow out, and some waxing. I wasn't sure if it would work out but their software let me, so I booked it. I got a call in the a.m. from the owner that the system kind of overlapped a bunch of things... BUT they were going to make it work. And make it work they did. Not only did they squeeze in all my desired services (the day before Mother's Day, no less-and car-azy day in the spa world) but all were excellent. My shellac mani & pedi was excellent. I saw Nikki and she was very thorough and actually gave an ish about if I liked my color and various things that other manicurist just sort of huff through. She has a very charming personality and great sense of humor so that was refreshing as well. Next, I had a facial and waxing with Takako. (In between, I waited in their relaxation room). Takako is also a consummate professional, who paid attention to each and every detail-my comfort, my skin's needs, etc. The background music was extremely relaxing and not weird at all like many a spa I've been to. My face looks amazing, and I didn't even realize how much I needed that facial til I got it. And she didn't try to upsell me with a bunch of products (a rarity among estheticians). Next, Lindsey did my blow out. She, also, was extremely focused on how I wanted my hair, and numerous little details, that given the fact she may never see me again, may not feel very important. However, she *will* see me again because I thought she did an amazing job. Last but far from least-Yris. I don't know what her actual job is but she literally gave me the most relaxing shampoo I have ever had. And I'm 43 and get one-two blowouts a week and have been coloring my hair since I was 16. I am *highly experienced* in having others wash my hair. She is simply next level. The owner came over and greeted me and seemed calm as a cucumber given the busy-ness of the salon and the fact that I essentially broke their scheduling system (which is probably a good thing, because now they know that it can happen.) It was a delight. I will be back. Very soon. Difficult to find No seating in waiting area Pedicure chair gorgeous Pedicure in full view of salon, next to haiir washing station Nikki was pleasant but rough Salon clean and modern albeit rather cramped and noisy I finally had to call after traipsing up and down the street, as the salon is difficult to find. There is no business shingle, nor sandwich boards outside the doors to direct you to the salon; however, they have a discreet logo on the door of the gym. Once inside, there is no direction signage, and I missed the entrance that is tucked around the corner on the second floor. The salon sublets their space from the gym, and are not permitted to display their signs. The receptionist is friendly and welcoming, and offered me something to drink. I felt awkward standing around while the nail technician was getting ready for me, as there is no seating in the waiting area. It's right up front, so you have to shift around for people checking in and out. I loved the pedicure chair. It's one of those full-on massage little angels of heaven. The pedicure area is at the back, but still in full view of the salon, next to the hair washing area. When I go for a pedicure I want to be pampered, and at $60, I would expect to have some semblance of discretion, especially when it requires me hoiking up my shirt and spreading my legs. I said to Nikki that I was looking forward to a bit of relaxing pampering (it's been a hectic week, I'm a teacher and students are getting close to the end of school.). Nikki must have thought I needed an invigorating workout. Either she is very efficient with her time and movements and it was close to the end of her shift, or she is just rough. It was not relaxing. She did an adequate job with the polish, managing to get some of the top coat all around the edges of my toenails. She was chatty and friendly, although made me uncomfortable with a remark that it must have been awhile since I had been for a pedicure. I felt this was unnecessary, as I take good care of my feet, and they are healthy. I did notice that the filing tool for the feet had not been cleaned from the previous use. Yuk! I went to a room next to the aesthetician's for my toes to dry under a nifty machine. The chair had no back so I had to perch. Again, a minor issue, but one that adds up. I was joined there by one of the employees who sat on the sofa to eat their food. I think there are better places for a relaxing pedicure. I got my nails done by Nikki and she is the best! She is so sweet and carried on a conversation with me through my entire manicure. I haven't had a manicure in over a year and I also bite my nails so my fingers were in bad shape when I came in. Nikki got all of the dead skin off and made my hands so smooth. She is a miracle worker! Sonia and I had a long talk on Sunday after my work out at the gym- she shared with me how to manage my frizzy head (spiral curls that go crazy in the humidity) and I followed her advice a week later.. Brazilian Blowout. INCREDIBLE. I should have done it years ago. My hair is healthier and super shiny. I wake up and GO every day. Hassle Free. She is an expert at the service and it's worth the cost. I can go to the beach and have frizz free hair with no effort. Yahoo! Jaime is great. Perfect men's style that works for the business professional and can be restyled for a nite out in the city. From arriving to leaving, the experience was excellent. Every stylist we worked with (I took my 3 daughters for a back to school salon trip) was wonderful and did exactly what we asked. The color for myself and my 16 year old came out better than expected. The manicures and pedicures were impeccable and very relaxing. The salon itself is tucked away (no advertising on the building other than the door) and is very intimate without feeling claustrophobic. We can't wait to go back! Christopher has been doing my hair for over 20 years and throughout those years I have considered myself as his canvas. I have done an array of colors, cuts and styles and not once have I been disappointed with the results. I am continually complimented on my hair and each time I'll tell them about Evolve Salon and Spa and Christopher. If you are looking for a stylist who will work with you to achieve the hair you want then this is your guy. I have recommended Christopher to many of my friends and they too have never looked to another stylist again. He is the best of the best. This salon is in the new One Loudon complex in the Fitness Equation gym. They do full service salon. It's gorgeous inside. They use great products. Chris is an amazing stylist I've been going to for 16 years. I moved to the west coast a year ago and still have to come back to get my hair done well. They have fantastic nail technicians too. I got my hair cut and a pedicure, it was a relaxing experience all the way around. Highly recommend!

So when Audi Cape Fear co-owner AJ Aliah asked Hartner, who runs Outdoor Illumination, to change the car dealership’s lighting scheme to purple last week, a light bulb went off. “Lighting things is happy…There’s healing in that, and we can bring some healing to others by doing it, ” Hartner said. The purple is, of course, in honor of the iconic, eccentric and wholly unique rock god Prince, who died unexpectedly at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota on April 21 at the age of 57. As generations of fans across the globe mourned the massive loss, so, too, was Hartner—who entered adulthood concurrent with Prince—reeling from the news. “I instantly went back to that place and time that was formative to me. It affected me so much because I was a fan of what is now classic rock but I was really liking what was going on with the punk scene and now comes along Talking Heads and Blondie. And around the same time Prince comes on the scene and it’s like, ‘Who is this?’ “The thing that blew my mind about Prince early on was, I noticed right away that he could play guitar like Hendrix, and I remember thinking, okay, this guy is the next Hendrix…But he also moves like James Brown and sings like Michael Jackson and channels David Bowie. And then I realized that he was my age, ” Hartner recalled. A little lost in reminiscing, Hartner admits Aliah’s idea to turn lighting into a local tribute to “the purple one” was one that had not occurred to him. “He beat me to it, ” Harnter said, laughing. “But it was genius and I said, ‘Let’s do it.’” In turn, Aliah confesses the brilliant concept was not an original. After Cockrell picked out the perfect shade of purple and Hartner had the lights in, a passer-by – a professional photographer in town for a wedding shoot – pulled over. “He said, ‘I am the biggest Prince fan and this is so awesome, I had to stop and take photos’, ” Hartner said. I would recommend it to family and friends and I also would re-visit. You know how sometimes you give a business a chance even though they have bad reviews and they turn out to be great? Not this one. I went it for a laser hair removal on my underarm. The older aesthetician did my treatment and she was in such a rush that she randomly swirled the laser around my underarm aimlessly. It got to a point where she kept going over one area and I seriously felt a burning sensation. I yelped and all she said afterwards was, "You survived." Note that I have had the same treatment before with other med spas and they couldnt even compare. Other points to consider before giving them a chance: - the entire lights in the salon were all off except for the "med spa" area. They looked like they were closed - aesthetician doesn't give you any ointment or soothing gel to relieve you of possible discomfort/burns - front desk/aesthetician lady was very nice and tried to be informative This place seriously has the WORST customer service ever. They are so sneaky and money hungry. The manager will agree with you on a price and then change it and completely deny it when you go to pay. They also mess up your appointment times and move them around without letting you know. Make sure you get everything in writing from them!! They will trick you and do what they can to get the most possible money without caring about their customers. Also, make sure you request the best laser technician because there is one lady who will burn you and do a half assed job. I still have painful burn marks on my elbow from her. Been here once so far for laser hair removal out of a purchased 6 visit package. Very nice people and a very clean establishment. HORRIBLE to schedule appointments or even get in contact with. Most of the time no one answers when calling and many times the mailbox is full so you can't leave a message. They are booked up for months in advance if you can't make appointments before 5pm (not helped at all by the fact they are so hard to get in touch with) so God help you if you have to reschedule like I did once. I will say that the laser they use is very nice. Not the rubber band type snap that a lot of other places use so that's a plus. I purchased myself a Groupon for Allure De Vie to celebrate my new job and I was looking forward to a day of pampering. The facility is relatively small, and there was barely enough room for the 5 clients and employees in the especially small "spa" section. The staff are all exceptionally warm and friendly. On to the services. My package included a mani, pedi, massage, facial, and salt scrub. Mani/Pedi- nothing to write home about. The "massage" chair felt like it would explode when I turned it on; it was basically a fossil! An at home mani pedi with the right tools would yield better results. Massage - absolutely phenomenal. The therapist was genuinely kind and listened to all of my requests. Perfect pressure and focused on my shoulders (my "problem" area) Facial - no. Just, no. Albeit I can count on two hands the facials I've had in my life, this was subpar. My skin felt drier and more textured after than it did before. I had to give myself an at home facial to compensate. On the plus side, the facial massage was mind-melting. Salt scrub - um... I didn't get it. I guess they just decided to skip over it and I didn't realize until I had left. The champagne, although cheap, was a nice touch. The strawberries were good, but pass on the chocolate - it truly is just a drizzle of Hershey syrup. I'll go back to use the gift card that came with the Groupon (for the massage, obviously) but after that I think my fling with this spa will come to an end. I came here for laser hair removal for my bikini and underarm area. My friend recommended the place although she had dark hair and tan skin. I am a blonde with very light skin. The facility is nice however unfortunately they don't know what they are doing here when it comes to laser. There was no consultation at first to even figure out if I was a candidate, they said they're laser can treat any hair color and skin type. Not true. First I paid for 6 sessions that they recommended. I went for about a year doing this. I saw literally no results, maybe a few hairs less. So they recommended I do another 6, of course without any consultation or even refund. They should have let me do these next 6 for free or at least let me see if it works and then I would have paid them. So I wasted another year, went through pain and time. Nothing. At the last session they told me thanks for my service. There was no follow-up. I pretty much threw $600-$700 down the gutter plus tips and I still have all the same hair I had and need to get frequent waxes and/or shave.
