I fully tested the system here. At about 2:30-3am last night, I booked about 7 appointments, for a shellac mani & pedi, facial, hair blow out, and some waxing. I wasn't sure if it would work out but their software let me, so I booked it. I got a call in the a.m. from the owner that the system kind of overlapped a bunch of things... BUT they were going to make it work. And make it work they did. Not only did they squeeze in all my desired services (the day before Mother's Day, no less-and car-azy day in the spa world) but all were excellent. My shellac mani & pedi was excellent. I saw Nikki and she was very thorough and actually gave an ish about if I liked my color and various things that other manicurist just sort of huff through. She has a very charming personality and great sense of humor so that was refreshing as well. Next, I had a facial and waxing with Takako. (In between, I waited in their relaxation room). Takako is also a consummate professional, who paid attention to each and every detail-my comfort, my skin's needs, etc. The background music was extremely relaxing and not weird at all like many a spa I've been to. My face looks amazing, and I didn't even realize how much I needed that facial til I got it. And she didn't try to upsell me with a bunch of products (a rarity among estheticians). Next, Lindsey did my blow out. She, also, was extremely focused on how I wanted my hair, and numerous little details, that given the fact she may never see me again, may not feel very important. However, she *will* see me again because I thought she did an amazing job. Last but far from least-Yris. I don't know what her actual job is but she literally gave me the most relaxing shampoo I have ever had. And I'm 43 and get one-two blowouts a week and have been coloring my hair since I was 16. I am *highly experienced* in having others wash my hair. She is simply next level. The owner came over and greeted me and seemed calm as a cucumber given the busy-ness of the salon and the fact that I essentially broke their scheduling system (which is probably a good thing, because now they know that it can happen.) It was a delight. I will be back. Very soon.
Difficult to find No seating in waiting area Pedicure chair gorgeous Pedicure in full view of salon, next to haiir washing station Nikki was pleasant but rough Salon clean and modern albeit rather cramped and noisy I finally had to call after traipsing up and down the street, as the salon is difficult to find. There is no business shingle, nor sandwich boards outside the doors to direct you to the salon; however, they have a discreet logo on the door of the gym. Once inside, there is no direction signage, and I missed the entrance that is tucked around the corner on the second floor. The salon sublets their space from the gym, and are not permitted to display their signs. The receptionist is friendly and welcoming, and offered me something to drink. I felt awkward standing around while the nail technician was getting ready for me, as there is no seating in the waiting area. It's right up front, so you have to shift around for people checking in and out. I loved the pedicure chair. It's one of those full-on massage little angels of heaven. The pedicure area is at the back, but still in full view of the salon, next to the hair washing area. When I go for a pedicure I want to be pampered, and at $60, I would expect to have some semblance of discretion, especially when it requires me hoiking up my shirt and spreading my legs. I said to Nikki that I was looking forward to a bit of relaxing pampering (it's been a hectic week, I'm a teacher and students are getting close to the end of school.). Nikki must have thought I needed an invigorating workout. Either she is very efficient with her time and movements and it was close to the end of her shift, or she is just rough. It was not relaxing. She did an adequate job with the polish, managing to get some of the top coat all around the edges of my toenails. She was chatty and friendly, although made me uncomfortable with a remark that it must have been awhile since I had been for a pedicure. I felt this was unnecessary, as I take good care of my feet, and they are healthy. I did notice that the filing tool for the feet had not been cleaned from the previous use. Yuk! I went to a room next to the aesthetician's for my toes to dry under a nifty machine. The chair had no back so I had to perch. Again, a minor issue, but one that adds up. I was joined there by one of the employees who sat on the sofa to eat their food. I think there are better places for a relaxing pedicure.
I got my nails done by Nikki and she is the best! She is so sweet and carried on a conversation with me through my entire manicure. I haven't had a manicure in over a year and I also bite my nails so my fingers were in bad shape when I came in. Nikki got all of the dead skin off and made my hands so smooth. She is a miracle worker!
Sonia and I had a long talk on Sunday after my work out at the gym- she shared with me how to manage my frizzy head (spiral curls that go crazy in the humidity) and I followed her advice a week later.. Brazilian Blowout. INCREDIBLE. I should have done it years ago. My hair is healthier and super shiny. I wake up and GO every day. Hassle Free. She is an expert at the service and it's worth the cost. I can go to the beach and have frizz free hair with no effort. Yahoo!
Jaime is great. Perfect men's style that works for the business professional and can be restyled for a nite out in the city.
From arriving to leaving, the experience was excellent. Every stylist we worked with (I took my 3 daughters for a back to school salon trip) was wonderful and did exactly what we asked. The color for myself and my 16 year old came out better than expected. The manicures and pedicures were impeccable and very relaxing. The salon itself is tucked away (no advertising on the building other than the door) and is very intimate without feeling claustrophobic. We can't wait to go back!
Christopher has been doing my hair for over 20 years and throughout those years I have considered myself as his canvas. I have done an array of colors, cuts and styles and not once have I been disappointed with the results. I am continually complimented on my hair and each time I'll tell them about Evolve Salon and Spa and Christopher. If you are looking for a stylist who will work with you to achieve the hair you want then this is your guy. I have recommended Christopher to many of my friends and they too have never looked to another stylist again. He is the best of the best.
This salon is in the new One Loudon complex in the Fitness Equation gym. They do full service salon. It's gorgeous inside. They use great products. Chris is an amazing stylist I've been going to for 16 years. I moved to the west coast a year ago and still have to come back to get my hair done well. They have fantastic nail technicians too. I got my hair cut and a pedicure, it was a relaxing experience all the way around. Highly recommend!
